Home Flare Wildfire Research Impact of australia's catastrophic 2019 20 bushfire season on communities and environment. retrospective analysis and current trends. causes and consequences of eastern australia's 2019 20 season. Flare combines real time satellite intelligence, short range fire forecasting, longer horizon risk outlooks, event analysis, and customizable operational views into a decision ready wildfire platform. Flare is dedicated to advancing our understanding of wildfire for the benefit of the community and the environment. our team contributes to the global knowledge of fire through scientific publications, conferences and professional and educational activities. Academics and researchers in flare wildfire research. lauren’s research focuses on effects of disturbances, like fire and climate change, on the ecosystem processes that underpin carbon and nutrient cycles.

Our work covers five primary research capabilities – these themes are highly interconnected with most staff and students working across multiple research areas. We are interested to support students in any of the five research themes (depending on staff availability) and where possible we link to existing projects. Fire behaviour research considers the mechanisms of fire spread across the landscape. uncovering the physics behind it through innovative and novel approaches helps us develop and improve predictive models of fire behaviour. The future fires program will use strategic foresight and cutting edge models to anticipate and help prepare for the wildfires of the future. climate change is affecting both the nature of fire, and our interactions with it.
