Hcde Design Challenge Human centered design challenge 2026 this competition invites young designers to apply human factors & ergonomics (hfe) principles to create innovative products or services that enable elderly individuals to maintain or regain active income through safe, meaningful, and dignified work. A team of hcde master’s students has earned second place in the ibm challenge as part of the 2025 student service design challenge, an international competition inviting students to design services that advance equality and inclusivity. Join the department of human centered design & engineering for our 2026 research showcase. this event brings together researchers from across hcde to share their latest work through lightning talks, posters, and interactive demos. We’re calling on students to design solutions that make work safer, healthier, and more user centered for mature workers aged 55 and above. aging brings changes in physical strength, flexibility, vision, and reaction time, increasing risks for injuries and discomfort at work.
