Groundwater Conceptualisation Gwscience At groundwater science we believe that open data sharing and effective data visualisation, when conceptualising a groundwater system, is crucial in providing the framework for a successful model build. Developing an understanding of how groundwater (gw) and surface water (sw) systems function and interact to impact water quantity, water quality, and ecosystem health provides a basis for management of water resources, environmental protection, and land management.

Model conceptualization model conceptualization is the process in which data describing field conditions are assembled in a systematic way to describe groundwater flow and contaminant transport processes at a site. the model conceptualization aids in determining the modelling approach and which model software to use. figure 1:. The review begins by outlining the origin and dynamics of groundwater, including the processes of infiltration, percolation, and aquifer formation. it distinguishes between confined and unconfined aquifers and discusses the key hydrogeological parameters influencing groundwater flow and storage. This chapter discusses some of the fundamental concepts, data needs and approaches that aid in developing a general understanding of a groundwater system.

In this chapter, we consider the definition of conceptual models, as well as their formulation and development as a tool for communicating the understanding of groundwater impacts on engineering design and construction.
