Grassroots gardens wny is a collective of activists, gardeners, and neighbors, facilitating the creation and maintenance of community gardens and other public green spaces as a means of healing systemic harm and strengthening community connections. In the 1970s, guerrilla gardening became a global trend, improving urban spaces and food choices in areas with limited access to food that is plentiful, affordable, or nutritious. the movement led to more mainstream urban community gardens and food reform initiatives. This tumblr will be dedicated to keeping the community updated about all the goings on at grassroots garden, from what’s cooking in the outdoor kitchen, to what needs planting, and what is ready for harvesting, as well as any special upcoming events. While everyone can benefit from a community garden, we believe underserved communities deserve priority. we always approve gardens in neighborhoods that lack grocery stores and accessible produce first.
