Enable timeshift, this is a bit like a win restore point except it works. what it does is save a copy of all your important system files. this means that if you start playing and break your system (we have all done that as newbies) you can do a timeshift restore and get back a working system quickly.

But ever since the calamitous release of windows 11 (a bug laden mess with ai crammed into every crevice), i have been yearning for the freedom of linux. today, i have achieved that freedom, and i am loving every second. Within the upcoming weeks, i plan to install linux mint on my desktop device. the computer does not meet windows 11 criteria and new equipment is not in my future plans. this presents an ideal opportunity to transition from windows to linux. and, linux mint is my top choice from the distros. One person already came to me complaining about the performance of a machine that was force upgraded to windows 10 by microsoft. instead of looking at it (remember, i don't do windows anymore), i set them up with another machine running ubuntu mate 18.04. they are happy with it.
