My town (denton, tx) has a coffin themed soap box derby every year for dia de los muertos. while there are definitely some red neck engineered entries, that race is taken very seriously by many. the local harley dealership usually has two entries and goes all out.

I built an electric go kart with the goal of hitting 100mph. the kart hit a lot of rolling resistance at 80mph and it was about the limit to what the electric motor could handle. Not going to lie, having a 2 stroke engine that close to my ears already sounds like a doctor's visit. But the way the moter set up causes the board to be front wheel drive if i sit on it the other way it will go backwards.
