Global Cooling Pledge Cool Coalition
Global Cooling Pledge Cool Coalition Launched at the 2023 un climate change conference cop28, the global cooling pledge is the world’s first collective commitment to cut cooling related emissions by 68% by 2050, while rapidly expanding access to sustainable cooling. View the list of countries that have pledged to the global cooling pledge. the global cooling pledge provides an opportunity to commit to sustainable cooling with concrete actions.
Global Cooling Pledge Cool Coalition The global cooling pledge was developed by the cool coalition, an initiative led by the united nations environment programme, in collaboration with the united arab emirates, the host for cop28. The pledge aims to reduce global cooling related emissions by 68 per cent by 2050, improve energy efficiency of cooling technologies by 50 per cent by 2030 and to increase access to sustainable cooling for the most vulnerable – all of which is needed to keep the 1.5°c goal in reach. To make the successful implementation of the pledge a reality, we are committed to collaborating with the unep led cool coalition and other stakeholders. we especially support the focus on protecting those who are most vulnerable to extended exposure to extreme heat. Countries will be encouraged to come forward as ‘‘cool champions’ for the global cooling pledge. thank you! 3. leverage strategic partnerships to deliver on pledge implementation. 4. mobilize signatories to the global cooling pledge.

The ‘global cooling pledge’ is a joint initiative between the united arab emirates as host of cop28 and the unep led "cool coalition". this voluntary pledge intends to raise ambition and international cooperation through collective targets on improving energy efficiency and climate friendly approaches, while increasing access to sustainable. Launched in 2019 as a flagship initiative of the un secretary general’s climate action summit, the coalition brings together over 250 actors—including governments, businesses, cities, and financial institutions—to deliver efficient, climate friendly cooling solutions aligned with the paris agreement, the kigali amendment, and the 2030 agenda. Commit to pursue public procurement of low global warming potential and high efficiency cooling technologies focused on the lowest lifecycle cost in government buildings by 2030. At cop28, the united arab emirates and the unep led cool coalition launched the global cooling pledge, the first collective commitment to expand access to sustainable cooling for those who need it most while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
