Pdf Gis Based Urban Flood Resilience Assessment Using Urban Flood Recognizing the increasing frequency and intensity of urban floods, accelerated by climate change and urbanization, the research employs a gis based model to examine the interconnected social, economic, and environmental dimensions of urban flood risk. Various methods, tools and techniques, such as multi criteria decision making methods (mcdm), hydrological modelling, household surveys, and geographic information system (gis) techniques, are commonly employed in the flood resilience assessment of single or clustered elements. This paper proposes an alternative pathway to evaluate design alternatives for urban flood mitigation, assessing resilience in quantitative terms through the application of the urban flood resilience index (ufri) and future scenarios criteria (fsc). This study aims to identify flood sensitivity and coping capacity while assessing urban flood resilience and move a step toward the initialization of resilience, specifically for peshawar city and generally for other cities of pakistan.

This study aims to identify flood sensitivity and coping capacity while assessing urban flood resilience and move a step toward the initialization of resilience, specifically for peshawar city and generally for other cities of pakistan. The study has proposed a new holistic model called “urban flood resilience model (ufresi m)”that integrates geographical information system (gis), remote sensing (rs), and the theory of analytical hierarchy process (ahp) for robust assessment of urban flood resilience in the study area. Therefore, this paper constructs an assessment model of urban flood resilience from four aspects: infrastructure, environment, society and economy. then, it quantifies infrastructure and environmental vulnerability based on gis, and uses topsis to quantify social and economic recoverability. This work proposes a spatial grid based integrated risk resilience assessment framework for urban flooding to consider both flooding risk and resilience aspects at a detailed level. The influencing factors of the spatial distribution of urban flood resilience, quantified using gis and modeled through the socio ecological composite index model, revealed several variables significantly associated with urban flood resilience.
