From Farm And Food To Future Driving Climate Action Through Ndc 3 0
Detail A fao review of 35 third round ndcs (known as “ndc 3.0”) submitted as of 15 september 2025 shows that agrifood systems are receiving more attention than ever before, while revealing major gaps and opportunities to turn ambition into measurable action. This event will showcase tools, resources, and partnership opportunities available through the fao ndc agrifood system help desk to help countries move from commitments to financed, measurable, and impactful actions.
Global Ndc Conference 2023 Implementing Climate Change Action In This side event highlighted the pivotal role of agrifood systems meeting the commitments made by countries in their updated ndcs 3.0 with countries providing insights. Agrifood systems are both highly vulnerable to climate change and significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions, making them central to ambitious, integrated climate action. As countries approach the deadline for ndc 3.0 submission in 2025, they are seeking more information and guidance on how to strengthen their national climate plans so that they effectively deliver on their ambition for more inclusive, resilient and low emission agrifood system transformation. Fao is supporting countries across africa, latin america, and asia to update these next round ndcs. it facilitates their efforts across the wide spectrum of this task, from planning and design to implementation and monitoring of their climate action plans, in a bid to transform agrifood systems.
Ndc 3 0 In Practice Turning Commitments Into Climate Action Ukraine As countries approach the deadline for ndc 3.0 submission in 2025, they are seeking more information and guidance on how to strengthen their national climate plans so that they effectively deliver on their ambition for more inclusive, resilient and low emission agrifood system transformation. Fao is supporting countries across africa, latin america, and asia to update these next round ndcs. it facilitates their efforts across the wide spectrum of this task, from planning and design to implementation and monitoring of their climate action plans, in a bid to transform agrifood systems. Participants emphasized the need to integrate agriculture measures into national climate planning through ndc 3.0, national adaptation plans (naps) and long term low emission development strategies. This report is the first product of the un climate change that provides a snapshot of ndc implementation, highlighting progress made in mitigation, adaptation and support and identifying areas where additional efforts are needed to meet the paris agreement goals. Accounting for a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, food systems must be transformed to achieve the paris agreement goals. governments must rapidly slash emissions from food systems and boost their natural carbon sinks to mitigate climate change. Food systems are responsible for one third of human induced greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions and must be robustly addressed in forthcoming ndcs.
