Julius hofmann is a german painter based near göttingen and leipzig whose work explores the intersection of classical painting and digital media. his practice blends figurative composition with digital age aesthetics, drawing on influences from the neue sachlichkeit movement, 1990s cgi, and film genres such as noir and horror. Hofmann is learned in the formal aspects of classical painting and equipped with a repertoire of traditional techniques to create conventional effect, but he persistently prefers the simplicity of 90s computer graphics over laborious and perfectionist mimesis.
