It is argued that fostering resilience involves working with the agentive, mastery oriented part of young people as they seek to meet their needs by scaffolding and supporting their efforts to mobilise resources (social, material, skills building) to address their priority concerns. The article sets out to show that the research in psychology offers some opportunities to strengthen individuals’ adaptive abilities. first, it explores the nature of resilience. it then suggests that ‘striving for a sense of control’ provides a useful theme to link the components of resilience. Despite the increase in prevalence of these conditions, the capacity of the health care system to screen, diagnose, and manage these patients continues to decline. several social determinants also contribute to great disparities in child and adolescent (youth) health, which affect mbh outcomes. Research shows teens feel their social and emotional skills are often not well supported in middle and high schools. and sharpening sel skills can help adolescents navigate new and changing environments and experiences that impact future successes in school, work, and life.
