What is forest learning? our forest areas allow the pupils at howard to learn outdoors, with rich experiences of nature, through opportunities to take part in safe, hands on activities under the supervision of adults.
Forest Learning Howard Community Primary School We have had another fantastic half term of forest school activities. the children have used the sessions to explore and investigate their ideas and follow their learning in an independent way, which allows them to achieve their own aims. This research focuses on how the learning space at forest school shapes the experience of children and forest school leaders as they engage in learning outside the classroom. During our forest school sessions we have started looking at winter birds in britain and tried to identify them. we have also had a go at weaving birds nests which proved quite tricky. The children have had a lovely start to forest school this week. we have started with team building activities and games and have used the classroom learning as a stimulus for some of our activities.

The children had a fabulous time in forest school during december, they took part in lots of natural craft activities, practised their fire lighting skills, they used peelers and saws to create toadstools and snowman and as always perfected their den building skills.
