First Nations Healing First nations healing. the ways of knowing, learning, and teaching inherent to the traditional methods of informal and formal aboriginal healing are profound and important in this 21st century. not only for first nations peoples, but for all of the earth's citizens. The current study responds to these issues, centering the voices of indigenous young people to explore how they are defining and enacting self determination, and how these expressions of self determination impact the health and wellness of these young people and their communities.
First Nations Healing Self Governance We propose constructs for indigenous healing, health, and wellness frameworks developed by and for tribal nations and indigenous communities. The 4 constructs are (1) sovereignty and governance, (2) language and identity, (3) land and kinship, and (4) indigenous knowledge and practices. all 4 constructs are understood to be relational and interconnected to create conditions for indigenous community healing, health, and wellness. Articles had to focus on indigenous populations and their healing practices, whether or not explicitly framed within the context of well being. to be included in this review, articles needed to explore land based healing in relation to indigenous well being (united nations, 2007). Indigenous sovereignty and self governance must be situated in water governance. the continuous process of settler colonialism in canada has profoundly impacted indigenous peoples' relationship with the land and water, which holds immense significance in their healing journey.
