Finding My Footing After Cervical Cancer Cervivor Finding my footing after cervical cancer in 2019, my beautiful son was born. i had my first abnormal pap a month after his birth. a year and a half later, with multiple colposcopies, i was finally told to have a leep. a month later, i got a phone call from my gynecologist while at work. We moved in with my parents so they could help get me to appointments and shuttle my kids to and from school and their activities. and then, in april, it was over.
Finding My Footing After Cervical Cancer Cervivor I was finding my footing after being at my job as a dental assistant for a few years. i was in a new relationship with someone who seemed to match my interests and i was also in the early stages of going to therapy for the first time to address some anxiety and depression. I’m sharing what it’s been like to battle recurrent cervical cancer, raise my two kids, continue to work full time, and show up even when the road gets harder than i have ever imagined. After my treatments were successful, i began telling other women about my experience. these women began sharing stories about their sisters, mothers, and women family members who had succumbed to this form of cancer. To determine the process and meaning of the experience of women with cervical cancer who had completed treatment within less than 5 years. qualitative study that included 13 women with cervical cancer, who participated after receiving a year of treatment. It wasn’t until after my treatment fully ended that i found a patient advocacy and support community. i didn’t know it then, but cervivor (a nonprofit for cervical cancer survivors) would ultimately transform my life and help me grow into such a strong advocate in the cervical cancer space.
