February 27, 2014 the school of arts and humanities has hired two new professors who work in the emerging field of arts and technology (atec). these faculty members champion interdisciplinary research that examines how traditional liberal arts can be infused with science and engineering. How can a humanities institute best foster the public’s understanding of the importance of nature, plants, landscape, and urban development as they are affected by sudden social and cultural shifts and modern metropolitan infrastructures?. Saturday, march 22, 2014, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. workshop: "keeping your phd versatile." organized by anupama jain and alexandra oliver. this is a morning of lightning talks, focused brainstorming, and networking about diverse career applications for the research and other skills gained while earning a phd. September 23, 2014 democracy in senegal michael lambert, associate professor of african, african american, and diaspora studies, adjunct associate professor of anthropology and director, unc african studies center.
