Data Science M S Academic Programs The mathematics study program of fmipa ui has 17 teaching staff with doctoral degrees (s3) with two of them being professors. the teaching staff's areas of expertise range from theoretical mathematics, mathematical modeling and applications, data science, and actuarial science. The compulsory area in the master's programme in mathematical data science consists of the mathematics module mathematical data science and machine learning (10 ects) and the computer science module machine learning (5 ects). This programme is offered by the faculty of science’s department of mathematics, in collaboration with the department of statistics and data science and the school of computing’s department of computer science. The master of science in mathematical data science is one of the three distinct albeit aligned interdisciplinary ms data science programs available at wsu that will equip students with the necessary expertise to meet global demand for data science professionals. The master of science in statistics and data science, offered by the department of mathematics, provides students with training in the statistical analysis of data sets, as well as in state of the art data mining techniques. Students of the master’s degree program mathematics in data science (m.sc.), predominantly taught in english, learn to understand, develop, and apply technologies for collecting, storing, evaluating, and securing large amounts of data. You are expected to complete the program in four to six terms and will be supervised during the program by a faculty member in data science. the principal degree requirements include four courses and a thesis.
