This article presents a conceptual framework for integrating experiential learning into higher education, focusing on guest speaker engagements, company field trips, and project based learning. As faculty, trainees, and employers now lean more heavily on virtual and online platforms, while limiting in person interactions, this presents both challenges and opportunities for incorporating experiential learning into biomedical training. Designing effective professional development with this adult learner in mind is approached here as grounded in a classic learning model, kolb's experiential learning cycle, which is supported by a basic understanding of the neuroscience of learning.
