Our upper school esy program provides students with a safe and nurturing environment where they can continue developing work readiness skills, reinforce academic and social skills development,. For this reason, the calais school developed a special half day extended school year (esy) program designed specifically to address the unique challenges experienced by children with special needs all while in a nurturing environment. Extended school year is off and running! as we welcome the month of july, the calais school also welcomes the start of the 2014 extended school year (esy) program. this year’s six week session, which began on july 1st and will conclude on august 12th, focuses on relationships and community.

Esy is an individualized instructional program for eligible students with disabilities that provides services beyond the regular school year. the need for these services is determined by the ard (admission, review and dismissal) committee on an individual basis. “our 12 plus students are completing work based learning where they are assisting with upgrading our technology in the building,” said calais assistant principal theresa fritzky, who oversees the esy program.
