Etherow Country Park Gm Ringway It covers over 240 acres and is one of the oldest country parks in the uk, established in 1968. the park is named after the river etherow, which runs through it, providing a serene environment for a variety of outdoor activities. After surviving the cows, we made our way into etherow country park. i’ve been here before for a sunday stroll, when it’s usually heaving with families and dog walkers, but the weather meant we had the paths almost entirely to ourselves — which made a nice change.
Etherow Country Park Compstall From The Air Aerial Photographs Of The etherow goyt valley way takes the left path, but the gm ringway takes the middle. it’s usually filled with men with fishing rods dangling into the water, waiting for a bite. Stage 7 of the gm ringway links marple and broadbottom via a beautifully varied route along and above the valleys of the goyt and etherow rivers. note that the path out of etherow country park is now blocked long term (late 2023) and we are therefore showing a new, slightly longer route. After passing new housing and a row of dilapidated terraced properties we arrived at etherow country park where the coffees and large portions of cake went down well. (steve doesn't do cafes.) we then took a path anticlockwise around the lake, managing to avoid being mugged by the canada geese.
