Cnds Cnds Disasterriskreduction Climateadaptation Centre Of The centre of natural hazards and disaster science, cnds, is a national platform for research on the nexus between socio technical vulnerability and extreme events. cnds researchers are affiliated with uppsala university, swedish defence university and karlstad university. The egu general assembly 2025 brings together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the earth, planetary, and space sciences. the egu aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career researchers, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience. The centre of natural hazards and disaster science (cnds) is an interdisciplinary research centre that brings together researchers from engineering, social and earth sciences to work together in projects on natural hazards, socio technological vulnerabilities, and societal security. With natural disasters occurring more frequently, egu 2025 will feature sessions on predicting, managing, and mitigating natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, and wildfires. researchers will present the latest advancements in hazard modelling and risk assessment.

At egu 2025, cima research foundation offers insight into this complexity: from snow to fire, from drought to participation, each contribution is a piece of the mosaic that helps us interpret the present and imagine more resilient futures. Cnds mission is to carry out work that promotes a deeper understanding on how human nature systems and reciprocal feedback mechanisms between natural hazards and socio technical vulnerability are coupled. The event, hosted by cnds in uppsala, brought together phd students from earth , engineering , and social sciences. the core of the summer school was an intensive exploration of the dynamics and impacts of natural hazards such as floods, droughts, wildfires, and earthquakes. This work presents an integrated framework to support flood resilience and optimize evacuation strategies by leveraging big data, high resolution flood and storm surge models, and advanced predictive tools.
