Edm Build Home Model Engine Machinist Forum I am obviously thinking of building the edm, or its older variant, and i was wondering if any builder could comment on how happy he is with the design. has it worked well?. Edm Build Home Model Engine Machinist Forum These pictures are from several different model engine builds i have done and don't show all the operation. valves. this shows turning a 5 16" valve using some 5 16" drill rod. many of my engines have valves made from mystery steel or steel from the local hardware store. Early last year i started building an allen models 0 4 0 yard engine. i have purchased the boiler from ridge loco works and i am thru the spring rigging and equalization section. i mainly wanted to reach out and see how many others were building this model so i can exchange notes, ideas, and problems. So my question is: can one build a decent home made edm to suit this purpose? would prefer a portable unit that can mount on area of problem (engine installed in vehicle, etc.).
