Document1 Docx Docdroid Typically, word would create an untitled document ("document1" etc.) when you double click a template file (these have the *.dotx extension). so the first thing to check is which file type you are dealing with. If i double click on a word (.docx) file, two document copies of that file (document1.docx and document2.docx) are opened. the same thing if i pick "open with > word" from the context menu.
