Towards Disaster Risk Informed And Inclusive Sustainable Development The undrr strategic framework 2026–2030 calls for an urgent shift toward risk informed sustainable development, ensuring that disaster risk reduction (drr) is embedded in all policies, investments, and decisions that shape our collective future. We work to embed disaster risk considerations across sectors and systems, investment decisions and all relevant policy areas from global frameworks to local planning so that growth is disaster resilient and sustainable over the long term. For over a decade, undrr and isc have worked together to strengthen the scientific foundations of disaster risk reduction and resilience. Addressing the challenge of systemic risk therefore necessitates integrating disaster risk reduction (drr) into climate and disaster risk informed policies and programmes and building coherence with the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

Overcome silo approaches at the national level and promote common understanding and language among practitioners to discuss shared goals (i.e. resilience, inclusion and sustainability), under the overarching goal of risk informed development. This strategy tool addresses repeated calls for practical guidance on integrating both disaster and climate related risks into development, and an approach that helps overcome policy siloes and fosters joined up implementation and localization. We will promote a disaster risk informed approach to sustainable development at the local, national, regional and global levels and accelerate progress on integrating disaster risk.
