Digital Twins For Virtual Commissioning

The Blurring Line Between Virtual Commissioning And Digital Twins
The Blurring Line Between Virtual Commissioning And Digital Twins

The Blurring Line Between Virtual Commissioning And Digital Twins To address this research gap, this study aims to investigate the technological relationships and synergies between vc and dts in the context of i4.0. the results suggest a strong relationship between vc and dts since they share similar technological components, such as the digital model. Therefore, this paper proposes a digital twin driven virtual commissioning method to simulate the machining processes in a virtual environment and perform virtual commissioning to obtain better commissioning results.

Digital Twin Archives Virtual Commissioning Virtual commissioning models lay the groundwork for the development of a real time digital twin of the production line. virtual commissioning paired with a phased upgrade approach is a powerful strategy that reduces the risks of completing complex upgrades. One possible solution is using digital twins for virtual commissioning, which can speed up engineering processes, qualify employees, and save valuable resources. This article has sought to clarify the areas of overlap and the differences between virtual commissioning and digital twins. both use virtual representations of physical systems to save time, enable better training, and identify improvement opportunities, among other benefits. Virtual commissioning is the natural extension of the digital twin and allows testing a machine or line virtually even before its physical construction. the digital twin is connected to the real or simulated plc software, enabling a full test of the machine logic in a safe and controlled environment.

The use of digital twin and virtual commissioning technologies, supported by augmented reality in conjunction with virtual reality, is a useful tool to reduce on site commissioning times, providing a range of technical and human benefits, perceptible to both the plant builders and the end customers. Development of digital twin has paved the way for software based commissioning, thereby reducing the time, cost, and risk of physical commissioning [7]. virtual commissioning supports testing the control functions of a new asset machine and validating its working to meet the expected output. Virtual commissioning (vc) is an increasingly integral practice in the engineering of production systems, evidenced by growing research and industrial adoption. Virtual commissioning (vc) is important for promoting applications of robotic machining. a digital twin (dt) driven vc system is developed for machining path prediction and error compensation. a machine learning enhanced dt model is built based on a novel joint error equivalent strategy.
