Digital Legacies Criticism Increasing technology integration into daily life has broadened the concept of legacy to include the digital footprint individuals leave behind. however, the lack of social norms, design, and legal frameworks to prepare a digital legacy may challenge users and data inheritors. In this paper, we argue that it is time to take stock of digital legacy scholarship, examining what we know, what gaps remain, and what areas are imperative for future work. This article proposes a framework through which to contextualize the politics of (digital) heritage preservation, and a model to analyse its most important political dimensions, drawing upon literature from the digital humanities and history as well as archival, library, and information science. We all understand inheritance in the physical sense, passing down our assets, memories, and creations. but how often do we stop to think about what happens to our digital life after we’re gone?.

Digital Legacies Criticism This article proposes a framework through which to contextualize the politics of (digital) heritage preservation, and a model to analyse its most important political dimensions, drawing upon literature from the digital humanities and history as well as archival, library, and information science. We all understand inheritance in the physical sense, passing down our assets, memories, and creations. but how often do we stop to think about what happens to our digital life after we’re gone?. Chapter 3 of library technology reports (vol. 56, no. 5), “digital legacy,” explores some of these questions and, hopefully, devises some strategies for equity in digital legacies. And will our digital legacies always be at their mercy? chapter 3 of library technology reports (vol. 56, no. 5), “digital legacy,” explores some of these questions and, hopefully, devises some strategies for equity in digital legacies. This study considered the different ways in which older australians perceived the value of digital objects, and how their digital content held a value as digital assets beyond their lives. We identify factors shaping people’s attitudes, their perceived differences compared with the traditional digital legacy, and concerns they might have in real practices. we also examine the design aspects throughout the life cycle and interaction process.
