Gardening Design Challenge Spoonflower Let’s talk about spoonflower design challenges in a real, honest way for a second. if you’ve ever poured your heart into a challenge design, hit submit, and then watched it quietly land somewhere in the middle of the results, it’s really easy to walk away thinking, “okay… what am i doing wrong?”. Every 2 weeks, spoonflower runs a new design challenge, which is voted on by the public. they offer prizes for the top 10 winners with the most votes, and feature the top 100 voted for designs on their website. Design prompts also offer great insight into what spoonflower is forecasting for upcoming trends. i don’t join every challenge—some themes just don’t fit my style—but when they do, i usually walk away with new ideas, new customers, and often, a new collection in the making. I try to enter as many of spoonflower’s weekly design challenges as i can. i find the different themes can be a good creativity prompty. it’s a great way to excercise those creative muscles and maybe even push you out of your comfort zone. Why design challenges are worth it? for me it falls loosely into three broad categories. engagement, motivation and feedback. not to mention the obvious enjoyment of designing. but if there is a challenge that really doesn't appeal, go right ahead a skip it!.
