Deadtrees Earth Deadtrees.earth is a project addressing the global issue of excessive tree mortality by utilizing drones, crowd sourcing, earth observation satellites and machine learning to map and analyze tree mortality. Earth observations combining drones and satellites, using machine learning, offer a promising avenue for mapping standing dead trees and uncovering the underlying drivers of tree mortality. Earth observation satellites, coupled with machine learning, present a promising avenue to unravel map standing dead trees and lay the foundation for explaining the underlying dynamics. To bridge this gap, we created deadtrees.earth, an open platform that integrates the entire pipeline. users can upload drone imagery, generate orthomosaics, run ai based mortality detection, visualize results, and download data.

Deadtrees Earth Earth observation satellites, coupled with machine learning, present a promising avenue to unravel map standing dead trees and lay the foundation for explaining the underlying dynamics. To bridge this gap, we created deadtrees.earth, an open platform that integrates the entire pipeline. users can upload drone imagery, generate orthomosaics, run ai based mortality detection, visualize results, and download data. Earth observations, combined with machine learning, offer a promising pathway for mapping standing dead trees and potentially uncovering the driving forces behind this phenomenon. Deadtrees.earth is an open, global data platform for mapping, analyzing, and sharing information on dead trees using remote sensing and citizen science. it integrates satellite and drone data to track the spatiotemporal distribution of tree mortality. Here, we present the launch of the community based deadtrees.earth database, compromising more than 1500 globally distributed centimeter scale drone orthophotos of forests with delineated standing deadwood. Here, we introduce deadtrees.earth, an open access platform hosting more than two thousand centimeter resolution orthophotos, covering more than 1,000,000 ha, of which more than 58,000 ha are manually annotated with live dead tree classifications.
