Retrogameboyz Custom Controllers рџћ рџ On Twitter So Talk To Me About Although it could be done with basic circuitry, i'm using an arduino with a couple of sipo chips so that a single controller can output to both controller inputs at the same time. i currently have the joystick mapped with all 16 directions, the keypad and side buttons. This project is to take an existing intellivision controller and using an arduino micro map it to keystrokes to be used in cool cv emulator. find this and other hardware projects on hackster.io. There have been many redesigns of the intellivision controller. this is mine. although there have been many designs for intellivision controllers (including the original), all of them fail to meet the use cases of the various gameplay found on the system. This project is to take an existing intellivision controller and using an arduino micro map it to keystrokes to be used in cool cv emulator.

This is possible with an addon cord and 2 switches on the back of the controller saying whether the keypad and control pad should be sent as 1st or 2nd player (if both switches are on 2, then it's just like having only the 2nd player controller). I didn't do much, but i designed the pcb for each controller board. the design is that there will be an arduino, and a controller pcb to attach to the system. if you want the two controller input, you'd just include two pcbs. this makes it really easy to assemble it with different features. The problem with the normal controller is how awkward it is to hold. there are times you need the keypad for actions, times you need it for movement, and times it is a mix. this is while also needing the directional pad and the 3 side buttons. thus, an ideal design would allow 3 use cases:. Also, a recent custom intv controller with a touchscreen was put on github, which is really well done: github rodineyhm intvtouch. however, i want the tactile feel to distinguish buttons.
