Coolant Reservoir Empty Chevy Bolt Ev Forum My plan is simply drain the reservoir, add new coolant, drive a few days; repeat a few more time. the idea is to slowly dilute the old coolant with newer coolant without ever introducing any air. Looks like this is just a coolant to oil coolant loop providing cooling to the motor unit oil. they probably collected enough data to show oil temps were such that the motor didn't require this additional cooling to keep oil temps where they want them. Sometimes, trying to be cool is what makes you loose. i would've done the same thing if the tank was just low (ie, drove to the dealer at 7:30). i didn't feel safe driving it with a completely empty reservoir like i posted. i may not ask for the reimbursement, it didn't really cost much. If so, it could explain the issues with weak 12 volt batteries and low coolant reservoirs. careful examination of the interiors and underside of the cars shows them to be perfectly factory fresh in every way. Two of the reservoirs have a coolant sensor in the bottom. they will alert you, and perhaps prevent charging driving, if the coolant is that low the reservoir essentially empty. That's the "coolant" for your traction battery (based on the picture it looks like the forward passenger side reservoir, which supplies the traction battery loop). Refill it with dexcool deionized coolant. it's very important that it be deionized to reduce the risk of battery fires in the case of coolant leaking inside of the battery pack.
