To address this, researchers worked with young people to create a new animation based mental health survey. it was developed with input from young people, mental health professionals, and researchers through co production workshops, focus groups, and interviews.

Through a collaboration between research, the arts, and the online sector, the empirical thematic findings were translated into 5 public health animations. the animations were hosted and promoted on 3 social media platforms of the irish youth health website called spunout. Animation is a powerful tool for mental health awareness campaigns. by using relatable characters, engaging visuals, and clear messaging, you can create content that not only informs but also inspires action. We focused on education and awareness based animation (adapted to the target group) to evoke empathy without arousing pity and to indirectly encourage people in need and others to talk about it. The interactive maps are able to identify the current need for mental health resources at a pace and scale that was not possible before. the following dashboard contains data collected on mha screening from january 2020 september 2025.
