Collaborative Modelling Topos Institute
Collaborative Modelling Topos Institute For effective collaborative modelling, there are four key statements which we take to be guiding tenets: at the design stage, we focus on specific facets of the systems. at run time, these facets need to fit together correctly. composing systems is rarely as simple as composing functions. Catcolab is a collaborative environment for formal, interoperable, conceptual modeling. elaborating on these keywords, catcolab aims to be: formal: models created in the system, be they qualitative or quantitative, are well defined mathematical objects that can be critiqued with clarity.
Collaborative Modelling Topos Institute I am also grateful for support from other colleagues at topos institute and our collaborators and funders. catcolab is pre alpha software under active development. We develop new tools for collective inquiry, based on formal interoperable conceptual modelling, enabled by a combination of novel foundational mathematics, open source software engineering, and meaningful collaboration with domain specialists. Topos institute's catcolab for collaborative category theory community model building, double theories, stock and flow epidemiology, and real time collaborative diagramming via automerge crdt. How cool and fortuitous therefore that on the 5th anniversary topos has launched a pre alpha version of catcolab, a scalable software for making models of the world in a truly collaborative.

Highlights from 2024 include work on polynomial functors, categorical systems theory, and collaborative modelling tools. this work is shared through research publications, talks, and blog articles. In this session, we wish to explore the scientific advances that have taken place in modeling biological dynamics that occur on multiple natural scales. Catcolab is a structure editor for models in a logic, allowing formal declarations to be intermixed with descriptive rich text. unlike most computational notebooks, catcolab strictly separates the specification of a model from any outputs derived from it. A json like data structure (a crdt) that can be modified concurrently by different users, and merged again automatically. topos institute has 26 repositories available. follow their code on github.
