We quickly came to the conclusion that drawing was what combined all of our artistic interests together and decided to embark on producing collaborative drawings as a starting point for our group project.

En masse is a montreal based collaborative drawing initiative that makes huge, beautiful, black and white murals with a revolving and ever evolving cast of artists. After visiting port talbot and making some observational drawings, i brought my research back into the studio and created some larger charcoal drawings of the steel works. Our first attempt at drawing collaboratively has been very successful. we were surprised by how well the outcomes turned out. we agreed that the key to success here is that we didn’t worry about the result and just enjoyed drawing as a group. I set about exploring different ways i could incorporate nature into art whether that be through my use of materials, drawing with natural found objects or by collaborating with nature.
