Coastal Resilience Law Conferences Noaa Sea Grant Preparing our communities for resilience along the coastline of washington is a top priority of washington sea grant. Drawing on the expertise of the authors, many of whom have multiple years or decades of experience in the sea grant network, the article identifies five key strategies that sea grant programs employ to support the process of coastal hazards and extreme weather adaptation and resilience building. Recognizing the need for better coordination among the state’s coastal practitioners, washington’s coastal management program and washington sea grant took initiative through a noaa crest grant to develop the coastal hazards resilience network (network). By participating in this voluntary federal state partnership, we work with noaa's office for coastal management to design and administer a program that best reflects our state needs and local circumstances.

Sea grant researchers and outreach specialists support cutting edge research in the areas of coastal processes, hazards, energy sources, climate change, storm water management and tourism. communities seek sea grant expertise to support and sustain diverse and vibrant coastal economies. Washington sea grant (wsg) leads the coastal hazards resilience network (chrn), a consortium of agencies, academic partners and nonprofit organizations to improve support for local resilience efforts. Additionally, sea grant develops and shares natural hazards preparation and recovery resources for communities and individuals. all of these projects are part of a strategic focus area to ensure resilient communities and economies across the sea grant network.
