Coastal Hazards Preparedness Noaa Sea Grant Sea grant and coastal hazards preparedness sea grant works with coastal communities across the u.s., puerto rico and guam to improve community resilience to coastal hazards. Drawing on the expertise of the authors, many of whom have multiple years or decades of experience in the sea grant network, the article identifies five key strategies that sea grant programs employ to support the process of coastal hazards and extreme weather adaptation and resilience building.

Coastal Hazards Preparedness Noaa Sea Grant Noaa sea grant allocated $125,000 to each of the 34 sea grant programs in 2024, for a total of $4.25 million, to further build upon and extend coastal resilience work with communities. The national sea grant office (nsgo) anticipates that approximately $900,000 in fy 2025 federal funds will be available to individual sea grant programs in order to support innovative all hazard preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives for coastal communities. Maine sea grant aims to improve community resilience to natural hazard events like coastal inundation and storm damage through scenario planning exercises and convening of communities across the region. For the third year in a row, noaa’s office response and restoration (or&r) and national sea grant college program (sea grant) are partnering to support coastal communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural or human caused disasters.
