Our climate action programme includes five key action areas, which are driving progress towards our science based targets and ensuring that our homes, places and business operations are resilient to the impacts of climate change.

Climate action was identified as a strategic priority for the business within our vision 2030, set out in 2020. our climate strategy is shaped around five focus areas, each with defined targets, to respond to the key areas of risk and opportunities for the business. Our vision 2030 includes three key sustainability topics as strategic priorities for the business; communities, climate action and nature. this is supported by our sustainability standards for our project teams and detailed management system to maintain high standards. We believe every business has a duty to tackle the global climate emergency and we want to continue leading our industry in taking decisive action. we want to play a lead role in nature’s recovery and to create more beautiful, wild and open spaces in the heart of cities, towns and communities.

Berkeley has implemented its vision 2030 strategy which focuses on 10 areas: customers, quality, communities, climate action, nature, employee experience, modernised production, future skills, supply chain and shared value. In december 2020, we received approval from the science based targets initiative (sbti) for its science based targets (sbts) to reduce greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions: berkeley group commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 ghg emissions 50% by fy2030 from a fy2019 base year. Berkeley is the only uk homebuilder to be awarded an a rating for climate action and transparency, which is the highest score possible. this year only 3% of all companies assessed by cdp achieved this leadership grade.
