Climate Action Educaid
Climate Action Educaid Educaid takes action for climate and sustainability at multiple levels, working with individuals, schools, and communities. we integrate climate education into both learning and practice through a range of initiatives. To effectively respond to this, the need for innovative, community youth led solutions has never been more urgent. in sierra leone, educaid is working to further climate action, embedding sustainability and environmental education into all of its work.
Climate Action Educaid Education systems can empower, equip, and skill young people for climate mitigation and adaptation. but there is also an urgent need to adapt education systems for climate change. this report explains how governments can take action. Unesco has been supporting countries to integrate the study of climate change into education through its focus on education for sustainable development (esd). however, there is a need to understand the depth of inclusion of climate change education within national curriculum frameworks. This term, young people have planted over 200 trees, led community action on waste and sustainability, and developed practical solutions to reduce emissions in their schools. From tacugama sanctuary field trips to co authoring international research papers, educaid staff and students are learning about climate justice, biodiversity, and sustainable living.

More than ever, we need to support learners, teachers, school leaders, policy makers and all others involved in education to give children and youth the tools to know, act and have a voice in the fight against climate change. On monday, 10th september educaid schools opened their doors to the 2018 19 school year. we have collected some photos from that first week to share the sense of excitement, joy and focus of this special time of year. Strangely, and somewhat frustratingly, it has been quite difficult over the years to get our students in sierra leone to think about taking their part in protecting the environment and taking climate action seriously.
