Charango Strings Andean Nation Our charangos are hand crafted in cochabamba, bolivia. the instruments are made by hernan tordoya, brother in law of flutemaker ivan alandres. the alandres family has been making bolivian musical instruments for over 30 years and is well respected within the musical community. The charango is a small andean stringed instrument of the lute family, from the quechua and aymara populations in the territory of the altiplano in post colonial times, after european stringed instruments were introduced by the spanish during colonization.
