This past week we completed the boreas window. while we have created many elaborate, multi layered windows for clients recently, it has been quite a while since we had one on display in the showroom.

Boreas Window Century Studios Irwin did the glass layout while bill was busy drawing window patterns for upcoming projects. once all the glass was cut and fit, irwin got down to foiling the dragonfly shade. once all the foiling was complete, the pieces were transferred onto the form and soldering began. This past week we completed the boreas window. while we have created many elaborate, multi layered windows for clients recently, it has been quite a while since we had one on display in the showroom. Boreas Window Completed Inspired by the elaborate pictorial windows of tiffany studios, century studios windows often include plated layers of glass which create colors and textures that do not exist in a single sheet of glass. While irwin has been working on lamp orders, bill has been busy creating a new showpiece for the studio. inspired by the 1903 john william waterhouse painting titled boreas, this window will be a multi layered, plated window, displayed in a custom made light box. Inspired by the 1903 john william waterhouse painting titled boreas, we created this window as a showroom piece in early 2012. the piece is now part of a private collection in iowa. this highly detailed window has several layers of glass and the face and arm are hand painted and kiln fired. This elaborate window depicts a woman sitting in a rattan chair by the sea and has all the beautiful coloration that one expects from renior. to intensify the colors, multiple plated layers of glass are being used throughout the window. A local client commissioned a set of three piano windows featuring a water pond theme. the windows depict blooming iris on the bank, lotus in full flower floating on the surface of the pond, and fish swimming merrily under the surface of the water.
