In march of every year, our fourth year graduating engineering students complete a "capstone" group design project. this is meant to be a significant design experience where students can pull together concepts from across their program, and it's a requirement for engineering program accreditation.

I am honoured to share that my team received the capstone design program choice award for environmental and geological engineering at the university of waterloo’s 2026 civil and environmental. A possible home for the interdisciplinary capstone course could be under the chair of design engineering. overall, receptivity among departments is positive but a more comprehensive analysis is required.

Excitement was in the air at the 2024 capstone design symposium as chemical engineering students showcased their fourth year capstone design projects! students applied their knowledge, skills, and creativity toward solving real world problems. In march of every year, our fourth year graduating engineering students complete a “capstone” group design project. this is meant to be a significant design experience where students can pull together concepts from across their program, and it’s a requirement for engineering program accreditation. Our main campus is situated on the haldimand tract, the land granted to the six nations that includes six miles on each side of the grand river. our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co ordinated within the office of indigenous relations. on it. Fourth year waterloo engineering students leverage their creativity and technical skills to advance new ideas and novel technologies in their capstone design projects beginning today.
