It's much better than the old 1.6 with a 5 speed and it's almost a straight swap if you can read a wiring diagram. if it's something you're thinking of doing, you'll need the engine (obviously), engine loom, ecu, can gateway, ignition key and clocks to make it really easy.

I’m planning on doing an engine swap in my caddy. i have just bought a shiny mk7 golf r engine, with intercooler, airbox, clocks and one of the engine mounts. engine has ancillaries including pumps, turbo and starter motor. i have located a car with a matching ecu, keys wiring looms and ignition barrel. I have both machines ready to morf into 1 epic hyper caddy. this is going to be a massive learning curve for myself and i’m looking forward to the build and many headaches to come. I’m in the process of doing this conversion have everything fitted and not seeing fuel at the rail. i’ve not done this wiring modification but sent the ecu away to have all the immob bypassed etc just not getting fuel now. Looking for your expertise on engine upgrades for my 2.0ltr 5speed caddy, it’s already got some mods but not a great deal performance wise other than a tune, i’m retiring it from my work van and making it my run around so i want to make it perfect,.
