We manage multi stakeholder initiatives, help communities build resilience and adapt to the impacts of climate change, and support efforts to turn climate ambitions into robust action. Resilience by design is a central principle. it means all investment vulnerable or exposed to climate impacts must be designed to face and withstand climate risks that could materialise in their lifetime, without unacceptable loss of their value or utility. Resilience is the principal response to climate change—and it is built by layering 5 i’s: income, information, insurance, infrastructure, and interventions. think of it as a framework people can use to prepare for shocks, recover faster, and learn from experience.

To guide this work, in june 2023 president biden directed the creation of a first ever national climate resilience framework to identify key values, priorities, and objectives to help expand and accelerate nationally comprehensive, locally tailored, and community driven resilience strategies. By connecting decision makers and experts across sectors and regions, it fosters holistic approaches and solutions that strengthen resilience across economies, communities, and ecosystems. the network currently counts 81 members across the public, private, academic and civil society sectors. This article provides some recommendations and suggestions for resilience building and collaborative governance with respect to climate adaptation in response to a new planetary state that is characterized by more frequent and severe extreme weather events. For the first time, this race to resilience progress report presents cumulative results from actual implementation, thus closing a full reporting cycle and showing resilience in practice beyond pledges and plans.
