Implementing the common ground approach requires intentionality and commitment. it involves a series of steps aimed at identifying shared values, navigating challenges, and fostering an environment where dialogue can thrive.
Common Grounds Building The Bridge When building common ground, you can share thoughts and influence thoughts of others. someone’s thoughts are based in their philosophy and emotions so changing them is hard. building common ground does not require you to convince someone that their philosophy is wrong and they should change it. The magic happens at the intersections where we can build common ground. the council is working to be that intersection, a place where you can find fellow travelers who may see the path differently yet still want to reach the same destination. By crafting narratives that rise above divisions, we employ the power of creativity to bridge those divides. we advise national leaders – from the federal government to congress, to the private sector, to philanthropy– on policies and investments that further peacebuilding and bridge divides. We provide support to organizations that help community foundations build common ground by bringing diverse groups of people together to identify and address local problems. What ages of children are included? we have a space for everyone. for children 5 and under you can join cgh tots, 5 and up can join the main common ground homeschoolers group. To manage the process of building and sustaining common ground, leaders need to “hold the environment.” in managing common ground, leaders must focus on protocols that sustain collaboration, engage in interest based negotiation, and manage conflict when value and process conflicts arise within.
