8 Bit Computer Clock Module The Eecs Blog I’ve been building ben eater’s 8 bit computer so that i can better understand the electronics behind computers and low level code execution. it’s a pretty good kit, and i’m having a great time doing it. This kit includes everything you need to build the clock module for the 8 bit breadboard computer, including the same high quality breadboard i use in my videos and a power supply which will power the full computer. In this video i build and explain the clock (clk) module for my 8 bit breadboard computer. This module is controlling the speed of the entire computer. it generates a 50% duty cycle clock signal that is used to synchronize all modules with each other. a switch lets you select between the internal 1mhz clock and an external clock, which can be connected to the breadboard using a jumper cable. As many others, i have wanted to build a breadboard computer from scratch since discovering ben eater’s excellent series on the subject. after many years, i finally have gotten around to starting the build.
