There is an interesting array of characters, and we are rooting for the heroine from the very beginning. there are also a lot of exciting scenes about training and riding horses. i'm definitely looking forward to the author putting out the next book about the hawaiian ladies' riding society.

The central love story between letty and timothy, and the plotline involving letty’s coming to terms with her abilities, would be enough to make this novel an entertaining read, but a subplot involving a fugitive horse thief adds further depth to the story. This book is set in a very early 20th century (1909) hawaii, in a fictional, mystical world, where americans did take over hawaii, but lili’uokalani was succeeded by kehokulani, a suffragist princess born with mystical powers. I was approached about reading this new release from katherine kaye and agreed to read a copy for review. i anticipated an electronic copy but was pleased when they posted out a paperback for me to read! bound in flame focuses on an interesting time in the history of hawaii where it is set.
