The 2013 flood resulted in extensive damage to residential and business property, as well as to boulder county roads, bridges, creeks, and open space. long term recovery efforts are beginning to wind down ten years after the damage occurred.

2013 Flood Recovery Boulder County Thank you to the boulder community! open space and mountain parks staff appreciates our community's assistance in helping us recover from the historic september 2013 floods. learn how we worked together to repair and rebuild flood damaged open space areas. In september 2013, the front range flood brought significant damage and devastation to both the unincorporated and incorporated parts of boulder county, including lyons, jamestown, longmont, louisville, boulder, superior, and erie. As a result, after enduring several intense cycles of these natural phenomena years prior to 2013, boulder county experienced about 18 inches of rainfall, leading to a 100 year flood, which resulted in 14 waterways spilling over, causing the loss of lives and widespread flood damage. Unlike previous responses where a number of individual “voices” from response organizations might speak to the community about their efforts and actions, the boulder flood response adopted a “unified voice” to reach out via mass media and social media.
