Keep the belle tout lighthouse in your sights and follow the path up towards it. keep to the right of the old lighthouse and soon the car park at birling gap edges into view, as do the famous seven sisters cliffs. carry on down, finally dropping to the right to return to the car park. Part of the world famous seven sisters chalk cliffs, birling gap offers ancient downland, a marine nature reserve, a visitor centre and café. the wild forces of the sea create unusual. On my walk i head out from the car park behind the old coast guard cottages up lookout hill. that first initial climb is so worth the effort when you reach the top, turn round and take in the panoramic views of the unspoilt coastline, the seven sisters and the downlands with the wind in your hair!. The 6.5km clifftop trail follows the south downs way from birling gap to eastbourne. during the walk, you’ll spot the belle tout lighthouse, the iconic beachy head lighthouse and the royal air force memorial.
