Asteroid Redirect Robotic Mission By Arnaud Cassagne On Prezi The asteroid redirect mission was intended to develop a robotic spacecraft to visit a large near earth asteroid and collect a multi ton boulder from its surface. it would then redirect the boulder into orbit around the moon, where astronauts would have explored it and returned to earth with samples. The asteroid retrieval robotic mission (arrm) spacecraft would have rendezvoused with a large near earth asteroid and used robotic arms with anchoring grippers to retrieve a 4 meter boulder from the asteroid and bring it to lunar orbit.

Asteroid Redirect Robotic Mission Robotic mission will provide substantial asteroid mass for astronaut visits. we present the importance of the asteroid redirect mission (arm) in the context of the global exploration roadmap and nasa׳s strategy for sustainable human exploration. National aeronautics and space administration's (nasa's) proposed asteroid redirect robotic mission (arrm) will robotically capture and then redirect an asteroidal boulder mass from the. In parallel with this selection, nasa established the asteroid redirect mission (arm) program consisting of two missions, arrm and a joint human robotic mission called the asteroid redirect crewed mission (arcm). The asteroid redirect mission (arm) described in this report brings together the capabilities of the science, technology, and the human exploration communities on a grand and exciting challenge, propelling u.s. leadership in robotic and human space exploration beyond low earth orbit.

The arrm aims to redirect a 4 10 m asteroid to lunar orbit for human exploration. nasa's arrm uses a 40 50 kw solar electric propulsion (sep) system for asteroid capture. the mission requires innovative astrodynamics techniques for efficient trajectory management. Asteroid redirect mission (arm) is nasa’s first ever mission to identify, capture and relocate an asteroid to a stable orbit around the moon and send astronauts to return samples of it to earth. This paper discusses the mission design techniques that would enable the redirection of a 100 1000 metric ton asteroid into lunar orbit with a 40 50 kw solar electric propulsion (sep) system. Nasa is examining concepts for the asteroid redirect mission, in which the agency would launch a robotic spacecraft to capture and redirect an asteroid into a stable orbit in the earth moon system.
