Maximilian Prufer Parallel Vienna Imagine a thin, sensitive coating paper where everything that touches the surface leaves a trace. this is ‘naturantypie’, an image making technique developed by artist maximilian prüfer. it’s. A central element of his practice is naturantypie, a technique he developed to record the movements and traces of insects as well as other natural phenomena. this talk was given at a tedx event using the ted conference format but independently organized by a local community.
Maximilian Prüfer Meer Maximilian prüfer’s solo exhibition at galerie kandlhofer spans fifteen years of experimentation, from his early abstractions to his current precise naturantypie works. „snail pictures from 2022 – as i captured these naturantypie, the moon slowly rose in the sky. the snails, highly sensitive to light, moved within their own shadows. During my studies in design calligraphy, i became increasingly interested in traces of animals, from which one can gather information similar to writing. through the development of naturantypie for over 12 years, i have discovered more and more of these traces that weren’t revealed before. The works of maximilian prüfer (b.1986, weilheim) reveal a radical and deeply poetic engagement with nature. neither representative nor romantically idealised, prüfer’s approach, a longstanding and ongoing investigation, is an experimental exploration of nature’s processes.
