Art Collectors Residence Our design features several discrete social areas (living, dining, play, media, and office) arranged around a central hub. each space provides a specifically designed environment and privacy to encourage the family members to work, play, and study while remaining close to each other. Modern windows, large glass walls, stone flooring, and wood ceilings open up and flow to the hill country view of this single story custom home. splayed light wells spill natural light into the gallery transforming a conventional hallway into a special viewing space. This project is the home of two art collectors on new york’s upper west side. located in the top two floors of a mckim mead and white building, the design merges two apartments to create a spacious domestic art gallery where home and art are intertwined. How best to balance real life living with a world class art collection? these were the questions that guided us as we gutted and rebuilt this singular space on the upper west side of manhattan.
