San Francisco Arts Education Project Art Organization Gallery Our mission is to bring art—in many exciting forms—to san francisco’s youth in vivid, experiential ways. educating through participation is what firmly distinguishes the san francisco arts education project. Made in collaboration with youth across sf unified school district over the course of two years, this expansive project brings together hundreds of hands and various overlapping communities in san francisco. Those artists who have worked with children in our programs for more than seven years—be it in the classroom, at summer camp, during after school programs, and leading weekend workshops—all the while maintaining and expanding their own artistic practices, earn the title of sfartsed master artist. Currently, six school based programs connect professional artists with young people and bring to life our mission of providing participatory experiences in the arts to the children of san francisco so they are better equipped to make use of their creative abilities in all aspects of their lives.

San Francisco Arts Education Project Celebrates 10 Years With Carousel Those artists who have worked with children in our programs for more than seven years—be it in the classroom, at summer camp, during after school programs, and leading weekend workshops—all the while maintaining and expanding their own artistic practices, earn the title of sfartsed master artist. Currently, six school based programs connect professional artists with young people and bring to life our mission of providing participatory experiences in the arts to the children of san francisco so they are better equipped to make use of their creative abilities in all aspects of their lives. Those involved with sfartsed say the nonprofit’s programs, such as art classes, workshops and theatrical productions, provide young people with life changing experiences and connections to. Sfartsed offers arts programs to san francisco children, in public schools, summer camps, theatre and artist residences, emphasizing creativity as a valuable life skill. Sfartsed has offered more than 300,000 public school students a chance to paint, dance, act, sing, weave, and sculpt—mentored by working artists. since 1968, we have believed that art is not a luxury, but an essential part of our shared humanity, starting in childhood. Sfartsed supports artist residencies in an array of visual arts, dance, drama, musical theater, world rhythms, and choral expression at some twenty public schools and at after school programs. we offer weekend workshops in everything from collage to fashion design.
